California Wine Country
"California wine country" is commonly used to refer to the Golden State's most famous wine regions: the Napa and Sonoma Valleys, just an hours' drive northeast of San Francisco.
The region's vine-covered hillsides—lush green in spring and summer, golden in fall—are reminiscent of Tuscany, and home to more than 400 wineries (producing mostly Chardonnay, Pinot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot varietals). If you’re looking for a week of relaxation, plan on flitting among tasting rooms, visiting spas, idyllic sightseeing, and some of the country’s best locally sourced cuisine.
